Mixed enteric infection.

چکیده
long chronic diarrhoea may be due to Campylobacter jejuni: we were unable to determine any other aetiology and the patient responded to selective treatment for Campylobacter and never relapsed. Campylobacter enteritis is usually a self-limiting illness. Symptoms resolve in less than 10 days, even without antibiotic therapy. Sometimes one needs two or three weeks to be cured. We have found only seven well documented cases in which the duration ofdiarrhoea exceeded 3 weeks from 2 months to 20 months.'-5 In our patient the duration was 17 years. It is the longest chronic diarrhoea due to Campylobacter jejuni that we know about.

Epidemiology of Rotavirus-Norovirus Co-Infection and Determination of Norovirus Genogrouping among Children with Acute Gastroenteritis in Tehran, Iran
Background: Enteric viruses, particularly human rotavirus and norovirus, have been shown to replace bacteria and parasites, as the most common pathogens responsible for acute diarrhea. However, there are still few epidemiological data on the simultaneous occurrence of these viruses in Iran. In this regard, the aim of this study was to assess the useful epidemiological data on the gastroenteriti...

متن کاملClinical features of acute gastroenteritis associated with rotavirus, enteric adenoviruses, and bacteria.
In a prospective one year study, comprising children with acute gastroenteritis admitted to hospital or treated as outpatients, the clinical and laboratory features of rotavirus diarrhoea (168 cases) were compared with those of enteric adenovirus (32 cases), bacterial (42), mixed (16), and non-specific (135) infections. The rotavirus disease was remarkably consistent, with a sudden onset of vom...
متن کاملIncidence of Coinfection between Rotavirus and Some Enteropathogenic Agents in Children Referred to Children Medical Center Hospital, Tehran, 2009
Background and Aims: One of the major causes of acute diarrhea in children during the cold season in Iran is infection by rotavirus. Children infected with rotavirus often require hospitalization. Several studies on human and animals have shown that enterotoxigenic Escherichia.coli and rotavirus are the most common coinfection causing diarrhea. There are other reports indicating occurrence of r...
متن کاملMicrobiological and epidemiological aspects of rotavirus and enteric adenovirus infections in hospitalized children in Italy.
Rotaviruses and enteric adenoviruses are the most important causative agents of acute infantile gastroenteritis worldwide. From July 2005 to June 2007, 445 stool specimens from pediatric patients hospitalized with acute diarrhea were collected and tested for the presence of rotaviruses and enteric adenoviruses using an immunochromatographic assay. Rotavirus infection was detected in 123 cases (...
متن کاملPrevalence and Pathological Studies on Mixed Infection of E. coli and Salmonella in Broiler Birds with Special Reference to Pneumoenteric Lesions*
Pneumoenteric lesions of Colisalmonellosis in poultry cause high mortality and morbidity with resultant production failure. In the present study, 500 samples were collected from broilers. 106 samples revealed bacterial causes for pneumonia and 22.7 per cent of the pneumonic lesions were found to be mixed infection of E.coli and Salmonella. 60 samples indicated bacterial enteritis and 30.77 per ...
